Women push for permanent senate seats and tougher protections
A deputation of women from various organisations met the Western Australian Attorney General last week. They urged permanent female representation on the West Australian University senate, compulsory physical drill in private schools and factories, amendments to the criminal code with harsher penalties for offences against females, and raising the age of consent to 21. The Minister said representation on the senate has shifted from the Government and offered to aid in women’s physical exercise classes if organized properly. He noted possible criminal code amendments but did not promise alignment with the deputation and warned that imprisonment is not a cure for the crimes raised.
