Mrs Huffam has completed alterations to her dining and refreshment rooms and can cater for parties at short notice. Mia Huffam is renowned in catering, and her new dining rooms are well arranged and an improvement over the old.
Mr George Stephenson, a Dunedin football figure, is in Wellington working on plans to send a New Zealand football team to England next season. A youth named Hugh Findlay, serving twelve months for housebreaking implements and a loaded revolver, escaped from a prison gang outside the Faol yard. He was recaptured after five minutes by a stack of timber in Murdock's yard.
Two express trains left within five minutes of each other. The second, disregarding signals due to a storm, crashed into a stationary train at Javiay station and telescoped four carriages. Seventeen killed and seventy three injured, mainly women and children. Also a Bridgeport electric tram incident killed forty six occupants.

United Press reports M Delcasse met with Count Muravieff in St Petersburg as the Czar cordially welcomed him. Muravieff reaffirmed the alliance amid doubts in European capitals about abdication rumors.
