On April 20, Willington reports say the attacking party gained honours as Wellington fell under simulated pressure. Experts estimate Wellington could be defended with about 2000 troops against a raiding force, while the maneuvers praised the troops’ energy and endurance amid cold wet weather. Dunedin notes two days of volunteer exercises ending with a victory for the Blue attacking force and the Red cavalry captured.
