Thomas M. Stewart proprietor of Stewarts Pharmacy died at his home on Cookman avenue and Bond street at 4:30 in the afternoon after a brief illness of acute gastritis. He was 43, born in Newton and graduated as a pharmacist from the University of Michigan in 1876. Stewart formerly ran a Red Bank store and moved to Asbury Park about twelve years ago, later becoming owner after clerking for Woolley & Reed. He married Milas Rose Kinmonth in July 1899.

William VanBrunt died at his Whitesville home after a lengthy illness. A longtime United States Life Saving Service veteran of 28 years, he spent most of his career at Deal station and helped rescue crews from vessels including the Charles Jackson, Dana, Red Star Inner Rus Iand, Pifpy, Yule, Piercedale, Henry M. Congdon, Irrawaddy, Windemere and Mary F. Kelly. His retirement came a year ago due to age. His brother is Captain Benjamin Van Brunt of the Daul station.
