The St Josephs of Paterson invite the Oreos to Paterson for a decisive contest after the Oreos defeated Paterson 17 to 11 last week. Oreos bring seven players three officials and a large fan delegation with center Arthur Rogers as the key opponent.
Special Despatch from Trenton reports another hearing on the Boulevard bill set for noon next Tuesday. John H. Fow, a Philadelphia summer resident of Spring Lake, will speak for the bill and seek an amendment granting Ocean Grove the right to keep its portion of the roadway closed on Sundays. Governor Voorhees and other leading lawyers deem each amendment constitutional.
John Kirwan of Cookman avenue wed Miss R L Phifer in a Holy Spirit Church ceremony officiated by Rev Father Roche. The bride wore lavender and the couple, now at home at the corner of Bond Street and Cookman avenue, previously celebrated a bachelor supper with Sanford's band where Kirwan warned his marriage would be his last.
Fred Gerner of Asbury Park, a famed skater and jumper, shattered two world marks at the Heflley School carnival on Clermont Avenue rink. He improved the standing high jump record by a half inch and added a half inch to Hugh Quinn in the broad jump, clearing 4 feet 4 inches with apparent ease amid several near-misses and a tense effort to surpass the prior best.
A city measure would raise pay for police officers with more than ten years of service. Voters in city elections may approve higher compensation for veteran officers, including Jacob Borden who has served for forty five years as a local guardian of the peace.
Advertisement notes two apartments remain in the Burton building on Cookman avenue opposite the post office. It highlights modern gas heating with no cold starts or coal hauling, gas cooking, and automatic shutoff when not in use, along with plumbing details and overall convenience.
The Asbury Park fire department organized a fire police patrol from members of Neptune, Wesley, and Independent companies. George Smock was elected marshal. The group will protect property, establish fire lines, and prevent accidents during blazes while investigating suspicious fires and prosecuting incendiaries.
Freeholder Joseph L. Cliver awoke to a man named Compton from Philadelphia, once of Ocean Grove, sleeping in a laundry basket filled with clean linen on the back porch. The intruder, drunk and disorderly, was tackled and arrested by the freeholder who charged him in court. Magistrate Borden fined Compton ten dollars, which was paid.
Barry Keim of West Park was arrested by Constable Hubbard for being intoxicated and beating his children with a broomstick. Magistrate Cross remanded him to Freehold for four days after a violent arrest, following a prior disorderly incident. The Symphonian Social Club hosts a masquerade Saturday evening March 30 at 8 in Bradley Resch’s club room with Paul Munkelt directing a program of instrumental and vocal solos and quartets.

A large gathering of Democrats met last night to form a strong township club in Neptune Township. The organization is expected to be perfected in about two weeks as party strength and unity were vigorously discussed and coordinated for a pivotal moment.
A bill of great importance to Ike Asbury Park provides for filling vacancies by special election in towns under 12 000 population. Districts without representation due to death or resignation would otherwise remain unfilled until the next regular election.
Assemblyman Kirkbride yesterday led opposition to Tillotson's bill setting salaries for chosen fresholders. The measure proposed $300 yearly pay in counties with 75 000 to 200 000 population and was defeated.
Dr Bruce Keator, president of the board of trade, spoke at Asbury Park High School on The Value of a College Education. He discussed accessibility for poor students, his Yale experience, and how to obtain a college education despite adversity, stressing practical paths to attendance.
A state bill would remove the successors of the sheriff, county clerk McDermott, and surrogates from large annual salaries, shifting income to the county treasury. The will of Melvina Bearmore admitted to probate directs $100 from the estate be placed at interest and income used to maintain her burial plot. Drucilla Compton receives all furniture and the West Asbury Park house. Grandchildren Lewis and Melvina Howland receive two pictures, another furniture lot, and $50 each. The remainder goes to Drucilla.
