Beach Purchase Bill Introduced By Assemblyman Kirkbride
In Trenton on March 7 Mayor Ten Broeck unveiled the oceanfront beach purchase bill drafted by City Solicitor John F. Hawkins and presented to Assemblyman Kirkbride. The measure, now with the Committee on Municipal Corporations, allows cities touching the ocean to acquire land for parks and public resorts by purchase or condemnation subject to voter approval. Bonds up to 50 000 may finance buildings and amenities with a 40 year limit and up to 5 percent interest. A public hearing is set for next week.

Joseph King, a Black man charged with the King William White case in Long Branch, was captured Thursday morning at Allatre. He had slashed his throat, and lay face down in a wood. when seized, he asked if his captor wanted him. A shotgun was leveled, King cut his throat again, and died about 20 minutes later.
