The German mail steamer General, held at Aden since January 4 on suspicion of contraband, is released after cargo inspection showed only chemicals and axle trees aboard. A Trieste flour cargo tied to a Lloyd’s steamer bound for the Transvaal remains held pending prize court decision.
Mrs. L Harry Van Sant died after a long illness at her home 1020 Sewalls Avenue. She was married three years ago to LH Van Sant of Twloby Van Sant real estate. a former Miss Emma Brown, she taught in Asbury Park schools and led social circles in Red Bank. Funeral from First Baptist Church Friday at 7 30 PM with burial at Fairview Cemetery Red Bank Saturday.
Reverend William 1 GM leads a group of Rebury Park and Quecco Grove residents plus Mrs Gill aboard the Yarmouth from New York to La Gloria Cuba. Investors include Rev. D M Ogden of Avon. embarkees named include William Treat Ison Councilman George W Treat Loward Pennoyer Henry Charles Jay Pattlegul JW Hause and others with Mrs Adorna B Chapell and Mrs John D Philpa among those listed.
Ocean Grove commissioners have signed an agreement with I. D. McKee of Philadelphia to buy a lot at the northwest corner of New York and Main Avenues for a proposed engine house for the Washington and Stokes Fire Company. The lease remains to be argued, with the deal not yet consummated.
