Freehold Gun Club Plans February Shooting Tournament
The Freehold Gun Club prepares for its annual shooting tournament on February 17 inviting Asbury Park and nine man teams from Trenton, Trenton Gun Club, Beverly Gun Club, Hightstown, Gon Club, Dayton, New Brunswick, Pennington, Booth Amboy, Keyport, Riverside Red Bank, Long Branch, Toms River and Englishtown. About 150 contestants expected to fire up to ten thousand shots across three trap groups with a large tent, caterer, and entrance fee of 60 to fund two trophies for first and second place split 60 percent and 40 percent respectively.

Murderer Bullock to Hang on March Sixteen

Gemino Convicted In West Park Jealousy Murder Trial
Genaro Gemino was convicted of murder in Freehold for the New Year’s Day killing of Domenico Bertone. The jury panel began last Thursday with the trial, verdict reached Saturday evening, and Gemino sentenced to 10 years hard labor in Trenton next week. The motive stemmed from jealousy after Bertone was found with Gemino’s wife. confrontation led Bertone to draw a razor, then Gemino produced a revolver. Bertone died at his home. Gemino was captured at Farmingdale later that day.

A large steamer was sighted off Ceal Beach lifesaving station on Saturday afternoon with two black balls on her jib stay indicating loss of control. The vessel remained about four miles offshore for over an hour before signals were lowered and she resumed sailing. Thought to be the British steamer Usk traveling from New York.
