Board of Trade Honors Factory Plan at Bradley Beach
The Board of Trade praised the factory committee for the Steiner mill project at Bradley Beach. The eight lot site on Fourth and Railroad avenues opened June 1, 1891 with 2500 attendees. The mill employed 262 workers, weekly payroll about $2,000, and total wages paid to date around $250,000. James H. Bird presided at the event with LeRoy as secretary. a banquet followed at the Commercial Hotel.

Neptune township tax board hearing ends with Batchelor case
The Commissioners of Appeal for Neptune township held their final meeting of the year at Fees Bros. on Main Street. Edward Batchelor of Avon Land and Improvement Company sought a reduction in his $160,000 land assessment, which was denied. Assessor Watson admitted several lots were not assessed, adding $1,000 to the total. Hartshorne will take the matter to the State Board of Taxation. The board also heard residents swear off the dog tax as 3,000 dogs exist in the township with only six owners located.
