Woman Overcomes Laudanum Poisoning After Mistaken Dose
Mrs. William H. White of 184 Corlies Avenue West Grove drank four teaspoonfuls of laudanum mistaken for lavender. She sank into unconsciousness, regained consciousness after seven hours, and is improving though expected to remain ill for days. Doctor John Taylor of Asbury Park treated her. Her husband acted quickly and used strong coffee in an emergency.

Fire prevented at Higble and Haussling bottling works
A blaze broke out at Higble and Haussling 611 Main Street late last night when a hose pipe fell in the bottling work. Neptune Engine Company arrived quickly and extinguished the fire, underscoring Asbury Park's modern fire department equipment and prompt response to prevent a major conflagration in a wooden frame area surrounded by wooden structures.

Monument Removed from Old Scot’s Grave to Philadelphia
The original John Boyd grave monument from Old Scot’s cemetery near Freehold was moved this week to the Presbyterian Historical Society in the Witherspoon building in Philadelphia. Allen H. Brown of Camden supervised the removal from Old Scot’s, where the stone had stood two centuries. The monument marked the last resting place of Rev. John Boyd, the first Presbyterian in America. Last spring a monument was unveiled over the grave making the old stone redundant.

Fire destroys bottling works in Wanamassa
Fire last night destroyed the bottling establishment of William Griffin in Wanamassa. Damage listed at 2600 dollars with 1000 dollars insured. Fire discovered around 6 30 PM as Griffin ate supper. neighbors and volunteers fought flames with hoses and improvised devices. Origin unknown though boiler heat and daytime work suggested. Griffin plans immediate rebuild to reopen before summer.
