Wreck Revealed by Receding Sand Off Deal Beach

In a winter storm the night warden Willian Henderson found an oil wreck buried in sand south of Deal Lake flume. Foreman Barmore’s crew partially dismantled the oak timbers, about 60 feet long, likely from a vessel around 150 feet, possibly the bark Tulia, ashore 15 years ago. The sand is washing back, promising the wreck will be buried again soon.

Volunteer Firemen Jury Duty Exemption Discussed

WA Cotter, counsel for the State Firemen's Association, says no general law exempts volunteer firemen from jury duty. An exemption exists for those in a corporation formed under the 1876 act, requiring a certificate of service and residence. Attempts for universal exemption have failed.
