George F. Kroehl retired from the Asbury Park Common Council after sixteen years. Frank L. Tuttle replaced him from the First ward, with Samuel W. Kirkbride briefly inducted. George W. Treat and others announced committee plans, badges sparked debate, and Bradley praised Kroehl before adjournment to next Monday.
The Republican convention at Trenton adopts resolutions affirming loyalty to the party, honoring Vice President Hobart, praising McKinley, approving New Jersey senators and representatives, and pledging support for the presidential ticket. It endorses Voorhees’s administration, calls for American ship regeneration, and salutes soldiers and sailors.
The Board of Trade held a special meeting on Tuesday afternoon to consider changes to the Symphonian Manufacturing Company of New York factory row at Bradley Beach. The Committee on Manufactures reports four unsold lots tied to funding the project, with Messrs Gratz, Benadix and Buck present representing the company.
Special correspondence from Trenton reports Governor Voorhees chosen as a delegate after United States Senator John Kean withdrew to promote harmony. The Trenton convention endorsed McKinley administration and Puerto Rico and Philippine policies. Delegates at large to the Philadelphia convention were Gen. William J. Sowell, Governor Foster Voorhees, Barker Gummers, and Franklin Murphy. Neptune township delegates listed.
The Republican State Committee was elected Thursday at the Trenton convention. The roster includes Atlantic county John J. Gardner, Bergen E. Breckenedge, Burlington Robert C. Hutchinson, Comedo David Baird, Cape May Robert E. Head, Cumberland EBC Stokes, Easex Henry M. Doremus and Henry A. Potter, Gloucester H London, alager, Hudson Edward Fry and Col 8 Dickinson, Hunterdon Richard B. Reading, Mercer William H. Skiirmay, Middlesex Henry H. Banker, Monmouth C Asa Francis, Morris Mahlon Pitney, Ocean A M Bradehaw, Passaic Robert Williams, Salem John Ward, Somerset Edward J Anderann, Sussex Dr Harvey D Van Gasheck, Union John Kean, Warren A Blair Kelsay. Omas Purdy and S H Clarke, railroad agents, attended Wednesday. Clarke succeeds the late E I Ford and is regarded as eminently qualified for his post. Purdy introduced Clarke this morning.
Congressman Howell introduced a bill to pay from the national treasury the war claim of 84494 for Colonel Frederick W. Armstrong of Asbury Park who served with the commissary department in the Civil War. The bill was referred to the committee on war claims. Armstrong resides at 808 Fifth avenues.
A semi annual Ocean Grove Camp Meeting association meeting mandated a rigid conservative summer schedule with Bishop J N Fitzgerald as supreme. Plans require bishop approval for programs and the new chief clerk George Ramont was advanced. The Bradley Beach church lot was deeded to allow a larger church, while sun parlors on the beach were rejected and a reception for members was held by the Ladies Auxiliary.
Miss Katherine May White and Charles Friedrich wed at the bride's mother's home in Park Avenue. Afterward a crowd of rice throwers chased the couple as they fled by ladder from a rear window. Rev Frank L Colby officiated. bridesmaid Miss Alice Harrison. best man Dr William A Poole. A wedding supper followed.
The New Jersey Supreme Court ruled Horatio W. Nelson of Windsor Hotel at 45 Webb Avenue Ocean Grove was illegally removed by a warrant issued by Magistrate Dodd after rent arrears claimed in August 1899. Nelson contesting the eviction argued the action was invalid, citing defective affidavits and warrants and the timing violated governing laws.
A lawn party hosted by the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Ocean Grove Board of Trade in Association hall drew strong social turnout Monday. The Neptune high school orchestra performed beneath an arbor while color coded booths offered chocolate and cake, with Mrs Parsons and Mrs Ward delivering solos. A souffle and reception are planned for later evenings as the organization honors camp meeting members.
Inspector George Ormerod reports a 48 story hotel is being built at 810 Seventh Avenue without a permit or submitted plans. He cites danger and inability to obtain police aid, prompting the Street Committee to enforce the ordinance. Council refused permit for a roof on the burned building at Main and Springwood, citing danger and fireproof requirements.
The Old Common Council met Tuesday night to act on petitions and permits. Residents on Munroe Avenue urged grading paving and curbing from Main to Cobkman. the petition was tabled for the new council. The Victoria hotel got a permit to lay asphalt in front of the hostelry under street committee oversight. A request by Lockemith Stoddard to place a alg a front of the establishment was granted. The Consolidated Gas Company sought a larger gas main on Third Avenue between Grand and Kingsley, with street committee authority granted. Neptune Township Committee will meet May 26 to discuss Main Street improvements and cooperation by the city. The council ordered the street committee to inform township authorities that Asbury Park will install the required walks. The New York and New Jersey Telephone Company submitted a $300,000 bond via Fidelity Company. bond to be reviewed by city attorney before acceptance. Fire and Water Committee chair Trent reported departmental accounts including 79, 355, and 250 in various funds. report accepted. Clerk Burroughs announced the results of the recent city election. Council adjourned sine die.

He describes land contracts and Cuban law, urges subscribers to pay debts, and invites friends to migrate for fall or winter settlement while professing personal comfort, health, and expected profits from real estate ventures and 2000 acres of land.
Former Postmaster L G Irwin of Sea Bright died Monday evening of pneumonia aged 40. Born in Freehold Township, he served as Ocean township treasurer and led the Democratic party in Sea Bright. He belonged to Knights of Pythias Royal Arcanum and Junior Order of United American Mechanics. He leaves a widow and one daughter.
