Man Booked As AWOL From U S Army
Stephen M Litchfield 18 is in custody at Coconing County Jail awaiting military authorities. He was arrested Thursday on charges of being AWOL from the U S Army while hitchhiking north of Flagstaff on Highway 89. Allan Palmer was not arrested. A check with NCIC showed Litchfield was wanted by the FBI on AWOL charges. He will be turned over to military police today.

Break-in at Truck City Seizes Safe and Checks
A 250 pound safe and a check writing machine were stolen from Truck City near the I-40 east interchange in the early dawn. Owner Paul Enders reported the break-in at 4:45 a.m. Friday. Joel Davis found the scene when arriving for work. Detective Tom Brawley and Deputy William Hood led the initial investigation. further action will be by Detectives Ken Clark and Randall Paulsen. In a separate report, twelve women prisoners and a matron were released unharmed after an escape attempt at a city jail.
