About 40 participants completed a 20 hour county EMS basic care course at the Coconino County Health Department. Doctors lectured on injuries and first aid, followed by hands on practice with mannequins and rescue equipment. Ambulance attendants and utility workers joined police and fire crews in the training, culminating in a simulated accident scene and a 50 question exam.

Welfare Commissioner Jonn Graham announced that PHCENT RP compliance will boost 1,700 recipients by 20,000 dollars monthly as the State Welfare Board amended its program to salvage about 35 million in annual HEW matching funds. HEW officials will review the amendments Wednesday. The changes allow longer out of state stays, delayed residency declarations, aid to families with dependents when other siblings live with natural parents, deduct work expenses from gross income, and establish a child welfare advisory committee by December 1. Trewin Hoff and Ielen Foster of HEW met with the board, calling the amendments promising for compliance after the Ninth Circuit upheld HEW funding withdrawal orders.
