Two Pot Smugglers Draw Prison Terms In Winslow Case
In a 1970 Winslow area ranch marijuana smuggling case, Join R Franklin, 34 of San Francisco, and Daniel Backarraco, 29 of Fairfax, received prison terms after pleading guilty. Franklin got 24 1/2 years for possession for sale and a five year probation for transport. Backarraco got 2 1/2 to 3 years for possession for sale and four years probation for transport. The two also faced federal charges of conspiracy to smuggle marijuana and will serve state terms concurrently with federal terms at Terminal Island. Harold Hould, 41 1/2 of Pacifica, faces drug charges. charges against him likely dropped due to aiding prosecutions. About 1,300 pounds of marijuana were seized from a ship at the ranch, later trucked for sale.
