Air raids destroy tanks and bridge in Vietnam clash

U S jets and helicopters struck North Vietnamese tanks on central and northern fronts. They wrecked the Lang Giai railroad bridge near Hanoi with laser guided bombs and used guided missiles to knock out tanks near Kontum and My Chanh. Casualties were reported on both sides, with claims of large enemy losses and several U S and Vietnamese forces killed or wounded.

Million Dollar Suit Over Canyon Plane Crash

A $2 million lawsuit filed in Maricopa County seeks damages for the survivors of three German citizens killed when a sightseeing flight north of the Grand Canyon crashed in a snowstorm. Phoenix ranks among the lowest cost living among 24 major cities in a ASU funded study. In 1971 living costs rose 2.2 percent in Phoenix while Dallas Houston and Atlanta had lower costs. A family needed $10,454 annual income in Phoenix to maintain comfortable living standards, Honolulu had the highest cost at $12,108 and Houston the lowest at $9,894.

Kleindienst Praises Nixon Record At Republican Dinner

Acting Attorney General Kleindienst told 1800 Republicans at a $50 dinner that Nixon’s administration has a strong record in fighting drugs and organized crime and in enforcing antitrust laws. He cited increased Southern school desegregation and warned against broad busing, claiming progress in education and a push to limit federal involvement.
