In Yavapai County Walnut Grove Elementary School District narrowly avoided loss of federal funds after state officials found only a small $16.57 federal amount last year. District officials in Page and Chino Valley had threatened to resist federal paperwork on sex discrimination rules, but Walnut Grove’s board said the non compliance was an oversight and proceeded to continue under existing guidelines.

Graduate Gets 1-Year Probation for Theft and Burglary
1977 high school graduate Matthew A. Wright 18 of Flagstaff pleaded guilty to grand theft and second degree burglary in Coconino County Superior Court. Judge Mangum did not accept the plea but Wright will receive one year of probation under an agreement with County Attorney John Grace, with charges to be dropped if terms are met. He was arrested April 26 for taking a 69 channel citizen band radio from a car. maximum sentence for grand theft could have been 10 years.

Flagstaff police investigate Monday night fire bomb incident in an alley near Sheree Ann Kaczmarski home. A bottle of gasoline exploded hitting a telephone pole, starting a fire that was quickly put out. three men involved fled and James Hill was later arrested on unrelated Maricopa County drug warrants.
