Drug seized at gun point during early morning heist

Three men Warren H. Waltjen 31 Marty J Sitbey 19 and Philip Denny 19 held up Preston Chevrin station on the west side taking about 70 dollars. Attendant Robert Thompson alerted police after the robbers held him at gunpoint and fled leaving weapons and ammunition in the getaway car. Roadblocks were set and deputies pursued, recovering guns and miscellaneous items.

Fatal Crash Near Williams Hospital Claims Local Man

A deadly May crash 11 miles west of town claimed Joe Murphy, 26, of Williams, who died at Williams hospital. Murphy's car collided with a vehicle owned by Rev. and Mrs. Roscoe Trestles of Chaning, Texas. The Trowtley family suffered injuries but were released May 14. Murphy survived by his wife Meta and son Jerry.

Crash Fatal At Bellemont Anewan

Luz Santana twenty four died in a crash on Highway 66 near Bellemont. Two passengers, 26 year old Tair iopzg Galleros and 25 year old Agapita Martines, were seriously injured while the car, driven by Demisaf Kirk, collided with a patrol vehicle. Arizona highway patrol said damage was about 300 dollars. A separate crash near Apache Junction killed John Ruiz Gonzales.

Jerome-Memorial Day marks end of Jerome school system

From a one-room school in 12 years to a four-room building and a four-year high school, the district grew with copper prosperity. ASC Honors Are Awarded At Flagstaff College Assembly

At the annual Flagstaff college awards assembly Monday morning, honors were announced. The Wall Street Journal award went to Tick Powers of Las Vegas, the newspaper award to Miss Bertha Lewis of Sanders, the 35th Lowell award in memory of Dr Percival Lowell was presented by Dr Slipher to CorAN Cluff of Mesa for a LU26 four year average. President’s awards to outstanding man and woman students went to Georges Tomads of Mesapias and Miss Bertha Lewis. Dr Agnes Alten presented the Ze tella Kapp Gamal award to Sina Yvonne Slayton of Kingman. The sorority made up of teachers of Holbrook, Winslow, Williams and Flagstaff. The Joe A. Kelli ward of 200 dollars went to Miss Marion Rellas of Monroe. Gold Axe awards were given by the student council to seniors showing leadership and good scholarship: Juanita Allen of Flagstaff teaching in Peoria, Bill Ajaca, Buckeye, Jake Baker, Winslow, Corun Cluff, Delores Dias, Jerome Parry, Winslow, Frank Plane Prescott, Direct Sanders, Sedona, and Herberta Marietta.
