Laos Cease Fire Talks End With No Agreement Reached

Negotiators from the royal government and pro Communist rebels met at Hin Heap Laos for the first cease fire talks but failed to reach conclusive terms. They differed on future meeting sites and whether newsmen could attend. Rebel officers indicated a reply to the government proposal was possible by Sunday.

Marble Canyon Dam Hearing Delayed for Review Feasibility

Arizona Power Authority seeks license for a 185 million Marble Canyon dam on the Colorado River near the Navajo reservation. The hearing recessed to July 20 after examiner Costello found the project economically feasible. Navajo attorney Littell requested a 20 day delay to prepare further and refer questions to the Arizona attorney general.

Officer Sets Balloon Record During Fatal Rescue

Navy officer Lt Cmdr Victor A Prather of Bethesda helped set an altitude record aboard the carrier Antietam as a scientific observer with balloonist Cadet Malvolay Ross. A 25 foot fall during a rescue left Prather dead after he entangled in shroud lines. Ross was saved.

Goldwater Announces $839000 for Glen Canyon Recreation

Joseph Hopson of Winslow Dies at 66 Funeral Saturday

Joseph C. Hopson of Winslow, 66, died Tuesday at Winslow Memorial Hospital. Funeral services set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ, Rev. Sam Smith officiating, burial in Desert View Cemetery. He was a diesel and electrical engineer for Arizona Public Service for 38 years, retired last year after ill health following a stroke. Survivors include his wife Vera. son Ed Hopson of Williams. daughter Mildred Aaard of Chicago. brothers Fred of Winslow and Al of Fresno, and three grandchildren. Friends may call at Scott-McMillan Mortuary from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. today.

ASC Patio Dance Tonight at Arizona State College

ASC Shrine of Ages Choir to Present Concert Tonight

Northland Military Units Plan Big Armed Forces Celebration

Northland plans a full day of Armed Forces events starting at 10 a.m. with a Flagstaff High School Band assembly, National Anthem, and speeches by Williams and Flagstaff officials. exhibits open noon to 4 p.m. at the Depot featuring munitions, missiles, planet displays, and recruiting displays. A retreat parade wraps up 4 to 4:30 p.m. with multiple service units and Scouts, followed by refreshments from noon to 4.
