Death Row Execution Dates Sought by Arizona AG
Arizona Attorney General Gary Nelson asked the State Supreme Court to set execution dates for death row inmates not awaiting appeal. Only two of 17 could be executed immediately. Fifteen inmates are pursuing appeals in state or federal courts, with several nearing the end of their options. Memory notes include Karl Norten Joseph Janovle and Lawrence Krachten among others. The last Arizona execution was March 14, 1964, by gas chamber. 28 have been hanged, 36 died in gas chamber in nine years of history. Robert Smith and Charles Schmid are not yet exhausted. Schmid faces new appeals and state high court review of the death sentence.

Slurry Bomber Crashes Near Greer Killing Pilot
