Pioneer Kills Self After 60 Years in Flagstaff
A long time resident and former postal carrier, Hermin Henry Dietzman, 66, of 287 North Base Street East Flagstaff, died by suicide Thursday morning. His wife Eva Josephine, 62, a night clerk at the Commercial Hotel, found him in the bathroom with a rifle fire under his chin. Coroner Elmer Purtymun held an inquest at 1 p.m. Dietzman, reportedly despondent over health, had moved to Phoenixa area earlier in the week. He was born May 18 in East Grange, Texas, and had lived in Flagstaff since youth. Surviving are his wife, a son Ernest of Phoenix, a daughter Lillian of Vallejo, Cal, a brother Oscar of Flagstaff, and six grandchildren. Dietzman served as a postal carrier for 33 years under five postmasters before retiring in 1952.
