Trainee Program Forming At Flagstaff Police Dept

Marionette Troupe to Stage 3 Performances at Coconino
The Nicolo Marionettes of New York bring The Remarkable Mr Puss in Boots to Coconino High School in Flagstaff with over 2,000 youngsters expected. Three shows run Friday April 2 at 7 30 p m and Saturday at 1 30 and 3 30 p m with a free marionette giveaway after each performance. About 1,700 Mesa residents backed a $35 million city utility revenue bond in a Tuesday vote. Officials noted light turnout with 1,457 yes, 303 no and 30 spoiled ballots. The bonds fund a $44 million utility expansion program over 10 years.

City Jail Escapee Faces New Counts
A 20 year old Bellemont youth, Danny D. Dixon, back in City Jail after an escape and a brawl with Officer Newell L. Lewis on Tuesday. Charged with resisting arrest, disturbing the peace, and drunk and disorderly, Dixon was caught on South San Francisco Street after Lewis pursued him. Dixon shouted obscenities and kicked the officer in the groin during the confrontation. No serious injuries were reported.

Police Arrest Two for DWI on Indian Reservation
Two Indian reservation residents were booked early Wednesday on DWI charges. Davis Kewanimplewa Jr., 23, Oraibi, faced DWI and tires squeal charges after a 1 a.m. arrest with a .16 breath test. Philip E. Talas, 36, Tuba City, faced DWI and red light violations after a midnight arrest with a .24 breath test.

Coconino County zoning members on Fort Valley Estates rejected a plan for 69 acres on U S 180 with some lots under two acres delaying immediate supervisor review. Developer Tack Leonard and attorney Karl Mangum said they will press for a supervisors agenda, while state law and health approvals tee up further steps.
