Officials say no clues emerged about why Richard Boothe did not surface. Boothe, a Northern Arizona University freshman and Eagle Scout candidate, was remembered by family, school, church, and Camp Colton staff for his leadership and cheerful spirit. Campfire Blazes Put Out After Rugged Duff Fires
Two weekend campfires in Coconino National Forest rekindled in thick duff and spread to about a half acre before crews stopped them. Officials warned fires in duff are dangerous and urged using water, choosing clear dirt, or rock features as fire breaks and avoiding campfires during high wind and fire danger periods.
