The Soviet Union launched the unmanned satellite Cosmos 43 today as part of the Cosmos series started a year ago. Cosmos 1 launched December 22 and Cosmos 13 reportedly began orbit with an 89.77 minute period. Tass said the onboard equipment is functioning simply.
New Mexico Governor Jack Campbell signed an emergency measure restricting subdivision land firms. The act takes effect immediately with a six month transition for firms to comply, and violators face up to five years in prison and fines up to $100,000.
