City Growth and Plans Highlight Flagstaff Chamber Talk
Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce manager Hal Jackson told Soroptimists at a joint luncheon at the Hotel Monte Vista that Flagstaff’s growth last year was substantial and enviable, predicting 1953 would bring even more. He cited record railway permits already filed this year and a 10 percent surge in out-of-town mail, along with $12,289,000 bank debits in June and $11,800,000 in February. Jackson urged a balanced view of the economy and urged preparation for a broader, enduring growth path. He announced conventions this summer and noted increased chamber activity, as program chairs Harcy Pollock and Mrs. Fae Hopper Pollack introduced Jacheer, with Mrs. Shirley Toland as speaker at the April meeting of the Regioes. Optimists to hold Senior Citizens Day next Wednesday noon at Hotel Monte Vista, inviting each member to bring a senior citizen guest.

Former Flagstaff Resident Dies In Oregon
James A. ta, 45, of Bend Oregon, former Flagstaff resident, died Wednesday after a long illness in Bend. He lived in Flagstaff in 1964 and moved from Cubiovida. In 1959 he joined the Albuquerque regional office staff, later became a late supervisor of the Deschutes National Forest. He attended University of California forestry and New York State School of Forestry. He was a member of the Mason Lodge in Flagstaff. Surviving are his wife and two children. Fredonia Jaycees Hold Drive Social. The Fredonia Junior Chamber of Commerce hosts a membership drive social Thursday. Max Powell and Benny Jordan are co chairmen. A pot luck dinner is planned followed by a Jaycee movie. All Jaycees and their wives are urged to attend. It will be at the Coin Building starting at 7 p.m.

Baghdad Flight Disappears Over Snowbound Route
A plane carrying William S Carson, Bagdad High School staff, and Norman Wilson vanished Sunday morning between Winslow and Bagdad in a snowstorm. The missing craft, piloted by Carson, turned toward bad weather over Mormon Lake before losing contact at 9 05 am.
