CHICAGO APs The Cosmopolitan National Bank reports a shortage of more than $6 million prompting FBI questioning of a customer and a bank bookkeeper. If confirmed, it would be the largest embezzlement in U.S. banking history. The loss, uncovered Feb 25, involved checks up to $900,000 on a corporate account with only one bookkeeper handling them. The bookkeeper, with 24 years at the bank, was fired. No arrests expected before Thursday. Names of the customer and bookkeeper not released.

Police follow leads in the burglary of a Brannen Homes apartment late Monday. A $649 color television, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Magañas, was taken after access through an attic entry. Neighbor Olivia Chavez reported seeing two youths nearby. the pair are prime suspects as officers describe. Chavez later found her car returned, with suspects allegedly moving it to a friend for transport back to Flagstaff.

Police report vandalism at Flagstaff Junior High where a large plate glass window on the south end was broken.
