34 POWs Welcomed Freeing 34 More at Clark Air Base
The Viet Cong freed 34 prisoners of war in Hanoi and they arrived at Clark Air Base for a red carpet welcome led by President Marcos. Among those freed were 27 American servicemen, three American civilians, two West German medical workers, and Monika Schwinn the only foreign woman held. The total U S personnel freed since the cease-fire nears 299, with 286 Americans still in Communist custody awaiting March 2 releases.
