Forest Service To Have Workshops in Northern Arizona

The US Forest Service will hold two public workshops in mid July as part of a nationwide reinventory of roadless areas on all National Forest lands. Coronina National Forest Supervisor Michael Kerrick said one workshop is July 16 in Flagstaff from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other July 20 in Sedona from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The workshops aim to involve the public in the survey, with goals to designate some areas as wilderness immediately, others as potential wilderness pending further study, and some to be designated for multiple use. The reinventory follows legislative proposals for new wilderness areas and builds on a 1973 study.
