30 Days Tucson Youth Jailed in Narcotics Case

Drifter Sentenced In Auto Theft Case From Flagstaff
Joe W. Savage, 44, was moved to Arizona State Prison in Florence for an eight to 10 year term after an auto theft conviction. He fled with a car stolen from a Flagstaff salesman, triggering a nearly head-on crash near Cameron that damaged three vehicles and caused about $19,000 in damages. Savage admitted heavy drinking before driving to look at used cars at Sun Inc. in Santa Fe Avenue. He claimed the car pulled badly and sped off when the salesman inspected tires, colliding with a trailer and an oncoming truck. His arrest record shows a long drift across Missouri Kansas and California before the Flagstaff incident. The case was before Judge Thomas Brooks in Coconino Superior Court.
