The Arizona Bank faced a prank when four youths left a downtown office and a customer found a holdup note on the counter. A second withdrawal request for heroin and fifty dollars with two balloons followed. Patrolman Joe Tanies searched but found no suspects. witnesses said no one appeared intoxicated and the group departed quickly.
Festival Ca presents two ballet programs at 8 30 p m with Day de Quatre by Cesare Pugni a 1845 work. NAU Student Gallery features Maxim Prints by Rembrandt and Durer from ASU and NAU collections. Hours Tue Sat 9 00 4 00 and Sun 1 00 5 00. Also Pd Rather Be a Horse performances at 11 30 a m and 2 00 p m. The Flagstaff Art Barn shows Schimmel landscapes and Duhaas portraits on U S 180 north. Sunday University Auditorium hosts The Pacific Ballet of San.
A calendar of arts events includes a second outstanding ballet program featuring Simple Symphony by Britten and Afternoon of a Faun by Debussy at 2 p.m. Tickets on sale at the auditorium box office. Also noted are two-man gallery shows, a multi retrospective by the Schweitzer artists, and festival theater opening with Private Lives.

The Summer Festival 1971 opening of a bold children’s theatre piece, Aht Rather £ 49 Horse, drew a slim but enthusiastic audience at Northern Arizona University. Earl Sennett leads a cast from Mingus Union High School with young performers, while Hal Owen and wife Gene wrote the play. The production runs three more days with 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. showings, praised for energy, charm, and family appeal despite a half-filled house.
The Summer Festival presents Pas de Cuatro by Cas tro Pugni, first performed in 1845 before Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Sunmlay program at 2 p.m. in University Auditorium features a dance version of Afternoon of a Fawn with Debussy music and the Nutcracker grand pas de deux. Festival tickets are honored at both play and ballet events and are on sale at the Playasaf Chamber of Commerce and the box offices.
Services were held for Barney J. Wright 78 who died Wednesday at Winslow Memorial Hospital. Burial followed at Desert View Cemetery. Born in California he came to Winslow 49 years ago and worked for the Santa Fe Railway until retirement. He was a 34 year member of the Winslow Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his wife Emily of Winslow.
Isolated vandalism marks the AFLCIO CWA strike with most telephone service remaining functional. Bell System negotiators press wage and benefit talks while Arizona officials report numerous complaints of secondary boycotts. Incidents include a firebomb in Elgin causing up to 75 thousand dollars in damage and a sulphur bomb evacuation in New Rochelle.
Wipala Wiki, hereditary Antelope clan chief of the Hopi, died Wednesday at a Phoenix hospital at age 90. Born at Folacca, he moved to Phoenix for schooling, served as a sergeant major in the National Guard Indian Company, worked with the Boy Scouts since 1929, and lived near Layeen on the Gila River Indian Reservation. Survivors include a son, four daughters, 31 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Services were set for Monday at Gila Crossing Presbyterian Church with burial in Coop Cemetery.
