Rosary will be recited Friday at 8 p.m. in Flagstaff Mortuary Chapel for Salvador Ritz Esparza 60 a longtime Flagstaff resident who died Tuesday after illness. Funeral Mass Saturday at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe with burial in Calvary cemetery. He left a lumberjack career with Rinaw Manistee Lumber now Southwest Forest Industries and owned Esparza Pool Hall, later the Sierra Vista Hotel and Motel. Survivors include his wife Maia Ruiz Esparza, mother Delina Ruiz Esparza, sister Frlinda Ruiz Esparza, brothers Xavier Antonio of Aguas Calientes and Hilario of Flagstaff, Alfonso of Salinas, Elvira Duron, and many relatives. Additional survivors comprise nephews, nieces, stepchildren, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. The extended family also includes relatives from Mexico arriving recent days.

Coroner's Jury ruled the deaths of Albert Rodriguez Reuben C Sanchez and Frank F Gomez in a freight train car collision an unavoidable accident. Engineer Ed Reese testified he blew signals and hit the car as it crossed, with the train at about 48 to 50 mph. Fireman Bill Cramer corroborated, and officers found two beer cans in the car.

Rancher Slain and Wounded in Land Dispute Gun Battle
A land ownership clash near Santa Cruz erupted into gunfire on Wednesday. Rancher Luis Castillo, 7, died after a head wound. Robert J. Clark, 84, was shot in the left arm and right hand. Clark and Castillo had a long-running dispute over 200 feet of land adjoining their properties. Castillo reportedly began shooting. Clark, his son Lowell R. Clark, 33, and other family members were present as weapons were exchanged. No charges filed yet. a coroner's jury may meet this afternoon.
