Kris Fusselman six and Michael Gates nearly nine started a summertime lemonade stand Tuesday in Kris Tusselman's front yard at 606 W Cherry. By 2 08 p m they had earned 14 cents, with Kris in charge of the drink as hostess.
Firefighters fight the Carrizo fire in northeastern Arizona aided by 2600 personnel. The blaze, 10 miles south of Heber, spread from the Ft. Apache Reservation into Sitgreaves National Forest and has scorched thousands of acres. A second major fire near Springerville was contained. Arizona forests to close indefinitely Friday, with only Oak Creek and Bowito Campgrounds remaining partly open.
Flagstaff prepares for its 480th annual Ald Indian Pow Wow with three days of parades rodeo and Ceremonials in City Park. The opening parade at 11 a.m. kicks off the festival followed by a 1 30 p.m. rodeo and dusk Ceremonials each night. An 7 34 a.m. Chiefs Breakfast at Mark A Moore American Legion posts launches the event. Officials anticipate a large crowd and ongoing security preparations.
Paris talks reveal a Viet Cong proposal to free all U.S. prisoners if Washington withdraws by year end. The plan also seeks a Saigon regime ouster and a coalition government, offering both acceptable and unacceptable elements to Washington and Hanoi.
The Coconino County Board of Supervisors approved a nine member water development task force for the Flagstaff Williams area. Chairman Tachias will lead, with plans to seek full time chief executive and funding options from Four Corners Regional Commission or Farmers Home Administration.

About 5 000 daily pay workers affected in Arizona with 15 000 more across other states. Kennecott and Magma Copper noted as walkouts spread, while some nonunion workers remained at work. Union leaders cited inadequate offers and demands for job protections amid a 10 week pay battle.
Flagstaff eyes a possible July 3 arrival of John M. Powell, mayor of Katoomba, Australia, for a sister city visit during Pow Wow weekend. City officials plan a red carpet welcome with escorted tours, receptions, and ceremonial events, including the Pow Wow Parade and All-Indian Rodeo, plus visits to Grand Canyon and Sky Ride.
