City Uses 30 Men to Clear Snow Off Flagstaff Streets
City officials report 30 workers with 14 snow removal machines logged about 1 000 miles of plowing during a late week storm. Director Art Kennedy notes four 12 and 8 hour shifts cleared roughly 230 miles of streets with seven plows, two blade bows, two cinder tracks, two snow roaders, and Sno-Go amid record cold. Snow largely cleared though some patches remain as ice forms on unfavored spots.

Funeral Rites For Jay Ridgway Held In Winslow
Funeral services for Jay W. Ridgway age 44 were set for 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Elks Auditorium with Rev William Vogel and Elks Lodge officers officiating. Ridgway a Battle Creek Michigan native moved to Winslow in 1950, WWII veteran, former president of the Winslow Bowling Association, past noble grand of the Odd Fellows, and VFW member. Burial will be in Desert View Cemetery with VFW in charge of military honors. Survivors include his wife Elizabeth two sons Wayne Jr and Darrell in the Army at San Antonio a daughter Sharlette Jane his mother and stepfather Mr and Mrs John F Healy maternal grandparents Mrs J B Foster a sister Mrs LaVenda and brothers Lynn and Leroy Healy, all of Battle Creek.
