A single engine fighter aircraft bound for Phoenix crashed 35 miles north of Flagstaff after hitting a power line tower. Two lives were lost as the plane, departing Cameron at 1:15 p.m., nosedived into the ground about 15 minutes later. Cold fog possibly formed ice on the wings, causing loss of altitude. Sedona climber falls 200 feet near Church Rock
Rick Paddock, 24, of Sedona, slipped while scaling Church Rock south of the community Saturday afternoon. He fell about 200 feet, was rescued by the Sedona Unit of the Coconino County Sheriff's Search and Rescue, and suffers fractures to both wrists, possible pelvic injury, and other cuts. The rescue, aided by Maj. William J. Dempsey and a volunteer team, took about two hours and ended with Paddock being transported to a hospital by ambulance.
