Twenty eight to thirty people were trapped in Sabine Canyon near Tucson as a flash flood roared from the Santa Catalinas. Traffic Toll Hiked To 11 In Arizona Crashes

New Storm Heading This Way From Coast Says Weatherian

A severe storm swept Arizona with snow and strong winds overnight. At Coolidge Dam water runoff threatened the San Carlos Road. three fishermen’s homes were partially covered before wreckers cleared them. Two highway deaths occurred near Yarnell Hill as icy roads and drifted snow spread across the northern region. Fortunes varied as Fingstaff reported three inches of new snow and high winds. forecasts warned the system would reach Tom Canyon. Local areas reported snow down to Yarnell and city chains advised for travel. Arthur Gropyal, 24, and his wife, 27, both of Highland Park, were killed in a truck-trailer accident on a steep slope. A third person was injured. The storm’s 2.08 inches of rain were expected to fall in the Catsina mountain area.
