Robert Diggs 66 a long time Williams resident and former Forest Service employee died at Williams Hospital from a diabetic complication. Funeral services set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Community Methodist Church with Rev. James Hickman officiating. Burial will follow at Williams Cemetery. Diggs born July 27 1900 in Cambridge Massachusetts moved to New Mexico in the 1930s joined the Kaibab National Forest staff and served 30 years. He served in World War II and retired due to eyesight loss. Survived by his widow Odie a son Robert a student at Northern Alabama University and his mother Mabel Diggs of Harwich Massachusetts. Walker Pallingfield Funeral Home in charge with viewing 4-8 p.m. Wednesday. Donations to the Arizona Diabetes Association requested.

The bullet struck Gil beson in the chest as Kathleen Cheney suffered a left arm wound. Another brother Gibson was unharmed. The Cheney couple were not present.

St Michaels Historical Museum in Arizona received grants totaling 11 700 from the Bicentennial and Raskob Foundation to restore the old Mission on the Navajo Reservation. The 1898 building will be returned to its original appearance and house friars’ historic materials. Volunteers and the Friars Construction Crew will perform renovations with hopes to dedicate the museum in fall 1976 aligning with Bicentennial events.
