Contempt To Replace Riot Charges In Chicago Case
The Justice Department will not retry the Chicago Seven on riot charges but plans to retry all seven on contempt charges. Attorney General Kleindienst and U.S. Attorney James R. Thompson announced the decision, saying retrials on riot counts would be too broad and costly. Five were acquitted of conspiracy to incite riot but convicted of crossing state lines to incite rioting. the convictions were reversed by the Seventh Circuit. The defendants include David Dellinger, Abbott Holtman, Tom Hayden, Jerry Rubin, and Rennard Davis.

Rose Miller Dead at 73 in Winslow Hospital
Miller Rose 73 a Bladen Nebraska native who lived in Winslow 30 years died Wednesday at Winslow Memorial Hospital. Services will be Saturday at Scott Mortuary Chapel with burial in Edgar Nebraska. She taught in Nebraska Texas and Winslow schools and was a member of the mane Society. Survived by sister Lucy Miller and brother Robert both of Edgar. Friends may call today from 4 to 9 pm at the mortuary.
