Work of Northern Employment Units Listed By Chief

Northern Arizona offices of the state employment service made 694 placements in November led by Kingman with 181, Flagstaff 139, Halbrook 125, Winslow 125, and Prescott 121. Statewide placements reached 9,020, down from 10,317 previous month. Excluding agricultural placements, 3213 were made versus 3648 in November 1947.

Soldier Extends Term of Service By Year

Robert C. Villalva of Flagstaff has extended his Army service for one year joining July 1947 at Fort Ord. He serves as private in Company A 187th gliter infantry 11th airborne division stationed in Japan. Unification efforts amid Army Navy Air Force clash focused on budgeting and future weapon planning with three services presenting a unified budget to Congress next January and pledging no special lobbying for favors.

Bob Mensay Serving With Army MP Unit in Kyoto Japan

Private Bob J. Mensay of Flagstaff is serving with a military police station in Kyoto Japan. He renders services to the occupational forces and assists Japanese police systems in the city. The MP platoon covers the city with 244 hour jeep and foot patrols. Mensay joined the army November 1 1947 and after infantry basic training at Fort Ord California studied at the leadership school until May 14 1948. He has been in Japan since arrival and serves with his current unit.

Copper Executive To Take New Post At Kennecott Utah

Salt Lake City Dec 22 AP J C Kinnear vice president of Kennecott Copper Corp in charge of operations in Nevada Arizona and New Mexico has been named general supervisor of the Utah copper division Jan L Kinnear succeeds J D Moffat vice president and general manager who is retiring on that date.

Local Boy Scout fund drive tops goal in Peaks district

The Peaks district fund drive for 3500 dollars to support local Boy Scout activities raised 3850 dollars. Officials praised the community for its generosity and thanked campaign captains and workers. The drive was led by Dr. P J Lindemann Jr finance chairman Dr M G Fronske Scouter at large and Chester J Deaver district chairman.
