Kennedy Edges Nixon in Final Vote Count

Kennedy eked out a national victory with a popular margin of about 102,957 from a record turnout of 68,853,254. The electoral margin stood at 30 to 223 for Nixon and unpledged Southern electors, with Rhode Island and others contributing to the final tally of Kennedy 31,221,355 and Nixon 34,109,298.
