Deputies Probing Burglary At MorMon Lake Cabin

Coconino County deputies investigate a burglary in the Mor mon Lake area with losses over $300. Items stolen include an Indian storm rug worth $100, two more Indian rugs at $100 each, a Coleman lantern, and an aging stuffed deer head with a frayed ear. Police were notified Monday by Ingrid Weingarten via Deputy Russel PF. Schubert.

Neon Sign Planned For Arizona State University

Tempe AP Bankers and businessmen plan a 24 foot high blinking neon sign to advertise the home of the Sun Devils at Arizona State University. American Sign and Indicator Corp of Spokane is negotiating with the ASU Alumni Association and Valley National Bank to build the sign. The bank may sponsor after firm plans, said Warren Goodrich. The sign would read Welcome to Tempe Home of Arizona State University and be controlled by the alumni association but available for Tempe city officials.

Three Die In Arizona Highway Crashes In One Day

The Associated Press reports two out-of-state residents and a Phoenix man died in separate highway incidents Monday. Leo Mraz Sr., 77, was fatally struck while crossing a northwest Phoenix street. Mary O. Long, 70, of Redwood Falls Minnesota, died when her car was hit by a pickup in Mega. Leonard M. Lindsey, 58, of San Diego, was killed when his tractor trailer overturned on Interstate 10, 17 miles east of Willcox. Arizona’s 1976 traffic fatalities rose to 695, up 57 from a year earlier.

Market Drops Amid Profit Taking On Wall Street

Today New York stocks eased in brisk trade as the Dow Jones 30 fell 3.74 to 970.50 at noon. Declines led advances 7 to 5 on the NYSE, with the NYSE composite down 18 to 96.17. Brokers cited profit taking after last week's strong gain while awaiting oil price news from a major exporting countries meeting.
