Widely Known Cafe Owner Paul A Smith Dies In Tuba City
Patt Archur Smith 54 died Monday evening while en route to an Albuquerque hospital after the plane took off. A longtime resident and operator of Paul’s Cafe for six years, he was a beloved figure who helped raise Navajo children and organized Tuba City Little League with four teams. Survived by his wife Agnes and son Cale, services and burial will be in Tuba City.

Flagstaff Man's Brother Dies in Wichita
George Wayland Cagle, brother of Lonnin F. Cagle of Flagstaff printers, died Sunday in Wichita Kansas. Born in Neosho Missouri November. Funeral services pending. He worked 16 years at Wh he Earle then 19 years at Wichita Beacom. His last shift was on the final issue of the Bracon. He and his wife visited his brother here years ago. E Cagle and son Ned of Chandler and Mrs. Carl Moore and Carla of Phoenix returned December 2 from Wichita visit.

Civic Leaders Back Orleans School Board
In New Orleans a coalition of about 100 civic leaders backed the Orleans Parish School Board as the city faced a push to replace it. Board President Louis Riccetti said he was encouraged that financial problems might ease, while white student attendance at integrated schools remained limited. The Legislature moved to replace the board, passing the House 86-4 and sending the measure to a committee in the Senate, with federal courts previously blocking two similar attempts. The challenge is also before the State Supreme Court.
