Arizona Supreme Court rules petition challenge too late on 1946 right to work amendment

The Arizona Supreme Court unanimously held it was too late to challenge the petitions that placed the right to work amendment on the 1946 ballot. The canvass was halted, as voters had already approved the measure, ending one phase of the dispute. Justice Levi Udall stated that once placed on the ballot, voted on, and adopted, the matter becomes political and not subject to further court inquiry. Baron Carl Gabriel Beck-Friis of a Swedish timber family is employed as a regular logging crew member at the Saginaw Manistee camp 40 miles south of Flagstaff. Elopement Ends As Tire Blows Near Tucson

One Phoenix youth is jailed in Tucson and his would be bride returns to Phoenix after an attempted elopement to Nogales. The youth allegedly borrowed a truck for the plan. a fire caused the vehicle to overturn near Tucson, causing about 300 dollars in damage. Juvenile authorities restrained the girl until her parents arrived, while the youth was turned over to Tucson police for possible further action.

Quake Recorded In Missouri Early Today

An earth tremor lasting about 30 seconds woke residents at 2:40 am in Poplar Bluff Missouri. Patrolmen reported a rumbling seconds before the tremor that sounded like a truck into the patrol headquarters as the building boiled. No damage was reported.

Arizona highway fatalities rose over the weekend with five deaths. Catherine Honahi an 18 year old Hopi from Tuba City died when her car overturned north of Mayslaff. L E Akers and H Y Dedarnett both of Phoenix died after jumping from a truck into a Santa Fe train near Mavinette. Sam Russell 32 of Camp Verde died from injuries in a Thanksgiving day three car crash near Kingman. W T Smith 56 of Peoria was fatally hurt in a three car collision near Wickenburg. The year total reached 219, down from 225 this time last year.
