Candidates for Cocorina County school boards must file nominating papers with County Superintendent of Schools by 5 p.m. Friday. Twenty five seats are up in November’s general election across districts. Interest centers on Tuba City, which will have three board positions.
Rep Wayne Hays plans to announce resignation from Congress amid payroll sex scandal as House ethics committee schedules hearings for Sept. 16. The article lists candidates across multiple Arizona school and regional districts, noting incumbents and petition status in Flagstaff Flagstaff districts and other local boards including Grand Canyon, Chevelon Butte, Fredonia-Moccasin, Page, and Parks districts.

Carter seeks tighter Fed oversight and district command while pledging to stay close to average Americans amid debate talks stalled between Carter and Ford.
The Senate approved an extra 1 billion dollars in subsidies for the Postal Service in a stop gap measure. The plan provides 500 million annually for two years and delays bringing the agency under full congressional appropriation. A seven member commission would study reforms and report by March 15 next year. The postmaster general remains appointed by the board with no Senate confirmation.
The Coconino County Voters Guide compiled by the League of Women Voters of Flagstaff runs on pages 20 21 of the Arizona Daily SUN. It covers Supl 7 primary candidates for county, state, and federal offices with LWV questions and photos. Extra copies will be distributed locally and outlying areas. volunteers can call 526 9719 to help deliver or request more copies.
