Arizona Wheatgrowers to Vote Aug 24 on Marketing Quotas

Arizona wheat growers in Coconino County and statewide will vote August 24 on marketing quotas for the 1962 wheat crop. Quotas were proclaimed May 12. the referendum date was set to aid a better wheat program. ASC offices in Flagstaff will host the polling from 8 p.m. to 6 p.m. with manager Melton Flowers noting the importance of the farmers’ decision for 1962 and beyond.

A fiscal year report shows the Williams School District at a $15,394,394 valuation and the Town of Williams at $2,107,170. Grand Canyon School District valued at $1,628,202 faces a tax of $8,2362, up $2,2062. Chevelon Butte at $328,234 sees $4,5682 tax, up $9?2. Fredonia district valued at $1,299,756 with same tax across town and district at $4,002. Fredonia Town expects sufficient income to avoid levying operating tax. Maine School District tax is $3.81, district valuation $2,170,014. Tuba City School District rate remains, but overall rate rises to $4,9092 with valuation $1,170,257.

Promised Valley Play Set for August 26 in Flagstaff

Promised Valley, first staged for Utah Centennial, is adapted for a Mormon stake audience under Crawford Gates and Arnold Lungaard. Jed and Celia, a pioneer couple, star in the tale of the trek to the Great Salt Lake Valley with Emmahall of Winslow and Jan Stewart of Verde Valley portraying the writer. Frank Ford of Williams Dies at 84

Williams resident Frank Ford, aged 84, died this morning in a Phoenix rest home after a long illness from a broken hip. Born April 26, 1877 on Alcatraz Island, he moved to Arizona at 18 months, lived in Prescott, and later settled in Williams with his sister.

Boyd Magee Dies After Long Illness in Flagstaff

Boyd Magee, 50, of Flagstaff, died Thursday morning after a long illness. His wife Millie found him unconscious on returning home from work and he was pronounced dead on arrival at Flagstaff Community Hospital. Ganley and sons have charge of funeral arrangements.
