84 Inch Mirror Hauled Up To Kitt Peak Observatory

The 84 inch reflector mirror for Kitt Peak National Observatory was hoisted to the summit after over a year of grinding. Weighing about 1,200 pounds the glass was polished to within one one-millionth of an inch of perfection. If within shape tolerances the mirror will soon be tested, else it will be disassembled for more polishing.

Phoenix Funeral Wednesday For Former Flagstaff Man

Funeral services are set for Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Phoenix for Dr. Charles EH Boynton 45, a former Flagstaff resident who died of leukemia Tuesday in St Joseph's Hospital. He practiced dentistry in Flagstaff in the late 1940s after WWII service, later establishing a Phoenix office. He is survived by his wife Carolyn five daughters and two sons, three brothers, and a grandfather, with services to be conducted by Phoenix clergy.

Gasoline prices dip at Phoenix independent stations

Gasoline fell about four cents a gallon at several Phoenix independents with prices as low as 76.9 cents for regular and 27.9 cents for premium. Major stations trimmed rates from 82.9 to 29.9 a gallon for regular in some cases, with other stations around 28.9.
