Geneva AP reports Western Allies praise President Eisenhower after his decision to exchange visits with Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev. The maneuver is described as a step toward easing Cold War tensions and advancing prospects for peace.
Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hear Elder Milton R. Hunter at the Hagstaff State Conference in the Arizona State College Auditorium on August 15 and 16. Sessions include 10 am and 2 pm with Burlan R. Smith presiding. Hunter, a First Council of Seventy member, is an author and educator who taught in public schools and church seminars and wrote 17 books on history religion and archaeology. The event also notes reports on church missions youth programs Priesthood Quorums and Welfare Programs.
Three people died in weekend crashes on Arizona highways. Clarence D. Anderson, 27, of St. Jolie died when a pickup driven by Archne Edward Surracrer, 32, of Globe left U S 260 near Springerville and overturned. Tony L. Law 2, of Pasa, Tex died from injuries in a head on crash on U S 60 near Hope. Stephen R. Pulliam, 16, of Yuma was killed when his motorcycle struck a car driven by Maj. Robert V. Reese, 36, of the Yuma Marine Corps Station. Law’s father and others were injured as rain and wreckage blocked the road.
The 190 Arizona State Lions Club Convention will convene in Flagstaff for three days from June 11 to 13. Club president H Doc? Husband announced Lloyd Harrell as convention committee chair and named chairs for multiple committees including Publicity Joel Rolle Hard Barnett and others to handle arrangements and yearlong duties.

Flagstaff and Holbrook monuments report record July visitor activity with Walnut Canyon at 19,282 guests, up 15.1 percent from July 1958. Over seven months Walnut Canyon total reaches 39,043, a 16 percent rise, while Petrified Forest posts a July high of 45,586 visitors, up 32 percent, with year-to-date gains 38 percent over 1958.
The Flagstart Qd Pelee ported that 44 in mates were housed in City Jail after weekend arrests. Eleven arrested for drunkenness, nine for disturbing the peace, two for driving while intoxicated and reckless driving, one for complicity to a crime, and one for simple reckless driving. Robert Smith 30 and Creusio Luna 21 charged with dunk and reckless diving. Luna cited for no license and leaving scene. Hurley Lowe, Smiths companion, charged as party to a crime. Elzie Gatson 24 charged with reckless driving. All to be arraigned before City Magistrate James Brierley.
Arizona announces a large hospitalization plan for construction workers and dependents starting Oct. 1. The Arizona Basic Crafts Health and Welfare Trust Fund backs the program, with office hubs in Phoenix and soon Tucson, funded by contractor contributions and governed by a trustee board from contractors and unions. The plan covers central hospital and surgical care plus life insurance, aiming to reduce gaps for workers in the fluctuating industry.

Funeral services in Riley Indiana are set for Butler Magruder seven who died from a gunshot wound at his Playstall home Friday. Born in Boigmas MW he leaves Grace his wife a daughter Inez Powers of Champaign Ti a son Dale of Phoenix two brothers Tom Potomac and Denton Yellow Springs Ohio a sister Mrs John Gunzenbiuser Flagstaff and eight Brandyhildren. Funeral arrangements were made by Gauley and Son Flagstaff.
