Sedona and Winslow Weather Forecast Update

Forecasts show continued warm, fair to partly cloudy conditions through Friday across Sedona Winslow and Holbrook with scattered thundershowers possible. Central Mountains and southeast expect afternoon showers Saturday through Monday, with highs of 75 to 110 and lows 45 to 80. Lake Powell remains warm with highs near 100 and light winds. Local notices include a brush fire report and a fire safety incident at NAU Creative Arts Center, plus several admissions and marriage licenses recorded for August 1.

Grace Campbell Dies Holbrook Resident at 87

Holbrook community laments Grace Allen Campbell 87 founder and past mother adviser of the Holbrook Rainbow Girls. Died Wednesday in Wichita Falls Texas. Services set 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church Holbrook. Burial in Holbrook Cemetery. Survived by daughter Mrs. John M. Hamilton of Wichita Falls and two granddaughters. Owens Mortuary handling arrangements.

Man Sought In Stabbing In Flagstaff Night Incident

Police describe a suspect in a downtown stabbing that sent Jim Pritchard of Phoenix to Community Hospital. Pritchard, bleeding from a wound under his left arm, said he and a man he met during bar rounds argued near the Museum Club. The suspect is a man in his 40s or 50s with shoulder-length graying hair, wearing a Mue shirt, white shoes, and checked trousers.

Speed Reading Course To Begin In Flagstaff

The Institute of Speed Reading, Inc. will run a 24 hour summer course open to ages 13 and up. Graduates are promised reading speed triple their current rate with improved comprehension. After eight weeks a reader can tackle average length books in under an hour with better understanding. The program also covers study techniques and test taking skills. One weekly evening class is required, with free orientation lectures offered for information. Orientation dates include August 1, 7:30 PM. August 2, 7:30 PM. August 3, 7:30 PM. August 4, 10:30 AM. and August 5, 2:30 PM at The Arizona Public Service Auditorium LOL W. Cherry Enter South Door. Special student and family tuition is available for qualifiers. Under 18 must be accompanied by a parent.
