A 14 year old Indiana man identified as Owen J Hughes 34 is charged with kidnapping assault with a deadly weapon and grand theft auto after forcing Lorin Lidimer 22 Flagstaff cleaning man to drive a van from Flagstaff to Peach Springs about 150 miles west He was held in Coconino County Jail after a suicide attempt in City Jail His accomplice is described as Grant Skinner 39 of Santa Fe Ave A victim escaped near Peach Springs and reported the abduction to police Hughes was arrested by a Kingman officer and later delivered to Mohave County deputies He allegedly ripped his trousers zipper and tried to cut his wrist while in custody local police said
City Clerk and Assistant City Manager Dick Williams resigns in Flagstaff to become city manager of Parsons Kansas. City Manager Leland C. McPherson says the resignation is effective mid May and a successor will be sought with starting salary around 13 500. Williams moved to Flagstaff in 1970 after Prescott service and KU graduation, aiding personnel code adoption and serving as city spokesman after the disaster.
A Saturday evening crash near Sanders involved two Indian pickup trucks with ten of sixteen passengers injured.
