Indian Center Opening Rated Major Success

Hart Prairie project seeks golf course ski lift permit

Summit Properties asks the County Planning and Zoning Commission for a use permit for a golf course and ski lift on a 325 acre Hart Prairie parcel. The plan includes 477 single family lots, 37 acres for multifamily, 68 acres for commercial use, a 0.9 acre golf course usable as a ski run, and a nearly mile long ski lift. The proposal also shifts to a cluster layout and debates sewer and road standards as county officials weigh new subdivision guidelines alongside a separate Alpine East rezoning bid and a broader review of water, roads, and lot sizes. The commission will review these items and compare them with other northern Arizona counties’ rules.

Beauchamp elected president of Arizona Education Association

Flagstaff educator Tom Beauchamp was elected president of the Arizona Education Association at its Tucson convention. The seventh year teacher at Flagstaff High School is the first district instructor from Flagstaff to hold the ABA presidency, following Dr. Agnes Allen’s tenure 70 years ago. Frances Smith won treasurer unopposed. four AEA directors were Michael Reed, William McFarland, Doyle Coffey, and Margerite Pasate. The assembly also voted against a constitutional amendment banning busing for school integration.
