A Marly Sun reader retells a neighbor's plea from Mrs Iyn Cox of 1000 East Kaibab Lane No 80 asking the Easter Bunny to leave a baby carriage at their front door to aid a welfare recipient's nonwalking child. The request stresses no questions will be asked.
South Vietnamese troops repelled a North Vietnamese commando assault on Fire Base 6 near Saigon. Headquarters reported 12 enemy commandos killed and seized weapons, while no South Vietnamese casualties were recorded. US air power supported ongoing regional clashes with additional enemy deaths and explosions nearby.
Mark Scott ten year old son of Mr and Mrs Merritt Scott of B Grant Street Natchez was treated for a four caliber bullet wound in the right shoulder at Flagstaff Community Hospital. Deputies said the father was handling a small revolver he believed unloaded when it discharged striking the boy who was watching him. The accident happened in the family home.
The office of Dr. Peter Lindemann at 315 W. Charry was burgled late Thursday or early Friday. About $77 in cash and checks, mostly the latter, were stolen. Police said a southwest window was pried to gain entry.
Thomas R. Hernandez, 14, of 1004 W Coconing, held in city jail after a midnight arrest on three charges following a two car crash on Sitgreaves near the railway overpass. Andrew Delguidice of Clay, NY reported he was northbound and rear ended by Hernandez. Police noted Hernandez urinated in the patrol car, then fought officers during booking and was booked on following too close, driving while intoxicated and carrying a mutilated license.
In Oraibi Arizona AP report the Hopi referendum on building a Hopi high school failed to gather enough votes. Only 284 ballots were cast far below the minimum needed. Voter split showed 11 favoring Bureau of Indian Affairs administration 65 supporting state or public control 70 backing community control and 22 with no preference.
A Pima County Superior Court jury awarded Malcolm Robertson 1.15 million for injuries from a three car wreck that killed his wife Catherine, 18, in August 1970. Plaintiffs named Joseph Mulleim and Tildon Weger as defendants in the civil suit. Robertson, 24, was left permanently disabled by the crash.

More than 150 firefighters fought a 7 acre blaze in the Dragoon Mountains about 20 miles southeast of Benson. Fire retardant slurry was dropped by converted bombers at daybreak to contain the fire as crews worked through the morning.
